How Displaying Portraits at Home Builds Self-Esteem
Imagine walking into a room and seeing your truest, most authentic self staring back at you. There you are, laughing and playing and feeling so so happy. And you're not the only one seeing this true, beautiful image of you. This image is a happy memory, displayed proudly inside your home for everyone to see. Realizing this makes you feel special, important, and seen.
This is EXACTLY how children feel when they see their portrait displayed proudly in their home. It is a daily reminder of how much they are loved, and instills an unshakable sense of belonging.
Kids LOVE looking at pictures of themselves. Research has shown us time and again that children whose parents display family photographs in the home grow up with greater confidence and a sense of belonging. Photography displayed in the home makes children feel valued and gives them a rich understanding of where they come from.
School portraits help children feel part of an inclusive classroom family. Family portraits displayed at home help kids feel special and worthy. A picture of them with their teammates and friends reminds them of the importance of friendship and working together.
As a photographer and a mom of 3, I have pictures of my kiddos ALL over my house. I am so proud of my three beautiful babies, and I never want to forget how much they are loved and valued. These images fill their little hearts with so much love.
To be seen. Isn't that all what we really want?
